Moving from Michigan’s beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula (What we were thinking???), Monica and Scott settled near the “Mighty Mac” at the tip of the mitt on 78 acre farm with their horses and menagerie of indoor pets. Ever see the 60’s sitcom “Green Acres”?...that’s pretty much how the tale begins...Starting with a few barred rock chickens, they soon added Icelandic sheep, turkeys, geese, ducks, llamas, and alpacas….where will this madness end? What began as having a few heritage chickens to supply us with eggs has now taken on a life of its own, keeping both of us extremely busy as we produce the best darn eggs and poultry products, not to mention incredibly soft fleeces and wool goods, in Northern Michigan. We raise our animals the way they were meant to be, grazing on sunny pastures, or scratching in the dirt for bugs, and enjoying the pampered life we can offer them, all without hormones or antibiotic feeds.
To further compound the tragedy, the contractor ended up stealing over half the monies, leaving us with over $46,000 in unpaid sub-contractor bills and $92,000 in construction code violations and major workmanship issues. To read the Coverage from TV7&4 click here…..TV COVERAGE. |
