Our lambing season has begun in late April with

a second batch in late June.

 

We have selected some great pairings this year, to give

a wide variety of color and pattern combinations and of

course...SPOTS!!!!

from Leonardo, who throws wild spot patterns combined

with impressive body confirmations.

 

Additional breedings with our Flotti line and our starter

lines from Louis and Grasshopper’s offspring round out

our breeding for the 2008 lambing season.

4/26/08  Annie leads us off this year!!!

 

Annie surprised us with Arthur, a gorgeous spotted black ram lamb. Annie, one of our highest quality fleeced ewes, was bred to our Blesa Grandson, Leonardo, giving us this strapping lamb with big, white/striped horn buds and a real strong set of lungs!! You should hear this little one bleat!!!

 

Excellent conformation and bouncing all over as soon as he was dried, this little charmer will make an interesting addition to any breeding program with his Blesa leader line genetics and dam’s quality fleece!!

4/27/08  Can you say Deja Vu? Look at what Gracie gave us!!!

 

The second lamb of the season is almost a cookie cutter cutout of the first!!!!  Can Leonardo throw a mean spotting pattern or what???

 

Gracie delivered this masked gem unassisted and he was up and “pogo sticking” around before I could get out there to cut and iodine his umbilical cord!! With a dam like Gracie, he could only be named “George”. George and Gracie are already a farm favorite!!

 

George is a Spotted Grey Black and carries the Blesa line leadership genes. His half sister, Gwen, “aunt” Bessie, and “uncle”, William have all been retained for our breeding program due to their large sizes, excellent fleece, and great conformation. George is sure to follow in his family’s “hoof prints” as an excellent sire!!

4/27/08  Introducing Simon and Garfunkel!!!!

 

Oreo popped out this large horn budded pair like a pro!!!

 

After beginning to think that Phoenix didn’t do his job last December, we were pleasantly surprised to find this pair of large rams, one even with a bit of flashing on the top of his head (Garfunkel), just like his sire.

 

Combining the impressive size, wide curling horns, and gentle disposition of their sire, with the stunning fleece of their dam, Simon and Garfunkel are both destined to become renowned herd sires.

 

Both ram lambs are solid black and are already keeping Oreo scrambling after them, as they “bounce” around the maternity pen.

4/27/08  STELLA!!!!!

 

It’s about time a ewe lamb was born this year!!! Not that our ram lambs aren’t eagerly anticipated, but the ewe lambs are just melt your heart!!!

 

Sally’s dense fleece and stocky conformation, combined with Leonardo’s muscularity and strong lines, has produced this little black beauty.  Stella follows a long lineage of very milky, thick fleeced ewes with strong wide curving horns, traits we are sure she will carry on to the next generation.

 

Stella is a quiet lamb, following her momma very closely, but does voice her opinion strongly when Sally bolts to the grain trough!! She is a sweetie,  that enjoys being held and cocks her head inquisitively when talked to (probably thinking “What is this crazy Human chattering about!).
