What is a CSA?
CSA stand for Community Supported Agriculture. In the Thimbleberry Farm Poultry CSA, the participating members pay for the program over the course of the season in four easy installments, enjoying the share of natural raised pastured poultry as it matures through out the summer and fall.
Think of us as your Personal Farmers, growing the day-old chicks you purchase by your first payment, brooding them under heat lamps, herding them out to pasture as their feathers begin to grow, feeding and watering several times daily, sweeping them into their shelter at night, and protecting them from the hot sun, cold rains, summer thunderstorms, any coyotes, fox, raccoons, possums, owls, hawks, and even eagles that may try and grab an “easy” meal.
The community and our members benefit by having access to locally
raised farm fresh foods. The CSA Program helps keep small diverse
family farms alive and a vital part of the community. We are not
certified organic, but we grow your (and our) food using organic
and sustainable practices: no pesticides, hormones, or chemicals!!!
As farm members, there is some risk concerning total productions
and weights depending on the weather, predators, and other things beyond
our control. We strive to supply our CSA members with their exact
packages, but reserve the right to substitute similar products to
satisfy your membership.
We are dedicated to being YOUR FARMERS, working for you, to
deliver quality and quantity in a environmentally responsible, sustainable
manner for your healthy eating and pleasure. Our CSA Members come
first and receive the freshest and best products we have!!!
Program members are encouraged to visit the farm often, to observe their food during the growing process, to renew and deepen your relationship with the land and the food that ultimately ends up on your dinner plate. Farm to Plate...and you get to watch it all in action!!!!
Remember...Our Farm Becomes Your Farm!!!
Please find the payment schedules and CSA application below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us! We will be very glad to answer any questions concerning this program.
CSA Packages can begin at any time. We generally run several batches of each type of poultry over the course of the season (with a few extras thrown in!!).
Paying by Check:
Please print and fill out the CSA 2008 Application. Then you can either send it in with your payment (see sample full season payment schedule below or
contact us) or drop it off at the farm in person.
Your payment schedule may differ based on your enrollment date. The initial payment will always be the same for each plan listed, but subsequent payments will be equally divided to reflect the time remaining in the season. A payment schedule for your specific CSA package and plan will be sent to you in the Thimbleberry Farm Poultry Community Supported Agriculture Enrollment Package, that will be sent to you upon the receipt of your application. An estimated schedule of “readiness” will also be included, detailing the production schedule for each of your package items and its anticipated “readiness” date.
Paying by Other Methods:
We currently do not support online or credit card payments, but are working to provide these options by the 2009 enrollment.!!!
