Thimbleberry Farm and Fleece
Natural Foods and Fiber Products
Wooly!! Wooly!!!
You’re gonna make socks outta me?????
Love to spin or knit, but don’t have the time or the room for a flock of your own?
Is felting in your blood, but feeding hay in a howling blizzard at 20 below isn’t?
Have grandchildren that live in a big city and want to give them a farm
experience of their very own?
Need a gift for that “hard-to-get-for” knitter that has everything?
Then we have The Solution for You!!
Adopt-A-Sheep!!!!
Thimbleberry Farm & Fleece offers several options, where you can adopt one of our animals, receiving part or all of the fleece, raw or processed, without trudging out in a mid-January snow storm to feed and water or baling hay in the blazing sun of mid-July.
Program Descriptions:
Just For Kids:
This option allows the child to pick the sheep they want to adopt. They will receive an adoption certificate and an illustrated children’s booklet written by Thimbleberry Farms & Fleece depicting the life on our fiber farm.
Every season, Monica and Scott will help the adopted sheep write a personal letter to the child describing their adventures on the farm. A picture of the adopted sheep will be sent with each letter.
A birthday card, along with a sheep related birthday gift, will be sent on the child’s birthday. Visits to the farm are encouraged. Shipping included.
Icelandic raw fleeces average four to eight pounds per animal.
Farm visits are encouraged. U.S. Shipping included.
Adoption for 1/2 year :
Fresh from the Farm Package (Raw Fleece)
This program, allows the choice of adoptable sheep with the fleece they would like to work with. They receive either ½ or the entire raw spring and/or fall fleece (options below). The fleece is roughly skirted and then sent directly to the adopter’s home. This is a great option for those who want to bring it from farm to socks, doing the washing and processing, themselves or at a fiber mill of their choosing.
They will also receive an adoption certificate and each season Monica and Scott will write a letter describing the happenings on the farm. A picture of the adopted sheep will be sent with each letter, showing the progress of your fleece.
$65 for ½ fleece (2-4 pounds raw fleece)
$125 for full fleece (4-8 pounds raw fleece)
$120 for ½ fleece (1/2 spring/fall shearing)
$230 for full fleece (Entire spring/fall shearing)
Adoption for entire year :
Adoption per year. $50
What?? We’re adopted!!!
Let us do all the
work for You!!!
The Fiber Fanatic Package (Processed Fleece)
This program, allows the choice of adoptable sheep. They receive either ½ or the entire spring and/or fall fleece (options below), that has been skirted and sent to Stonehedge Fiber Mill, to be processed into their choice of roving, batts, or 2-ply worsted yarn. This is a great option for those who want the exceptional quality of Icelandic Fiber, without the time and effort of processing it themselves.
They will also receive an adoption certificate and each season Monica and Scott will write a letter describing the happenings on the farm. A picture of the adopted sheep will be sent with each letter, showing the progress of your fleece.
Icelandic raw fleeces average four to eight pounds per animal.
The amount of finished product will vary depending on the individual animal and final fiber processing choice. A portion of fleece is always lost on processing.
Farm visits are encouraged. U.S. Shipping included.

Adopt-a-Sheep Program Information
¨ Adoptable sheep may include any adult ewe or adult ram listed on the Icelandic Ewes, Icelandic Rams, Adult Ewes for Sale, or Adult Rams for Sale pages that are not currently adopted.
¨ The Just for Kids Package may adopt any lamb retained for our breeding program or any adult sheep.
¨ Sheep listed for Sale will be removed from the sale page upon adoption.
¨ Sheep adoptions can begin at any time of year.
¨ Adopted Sheep remain at Thimbleberry Farm, but frequent visits are highly encouraged in order to spoil your sheep properly (like they don’t get enough of that as it is!).
¨ With all farm animals there is a risk of illness that may harm the wool or even death. In this unlikely event, you will be asked to choose another available animal or an animal with similar fleece will be substituted with your permission.
¨ If you have any questions concerning this program or questions regarding the fleece of an individual animal, please contact us.
