Thimbleberry Farm and Fleece

Natural Foods and Fiber Products

Our boys are chosen for fleece, conformation, color/pattern, and temperament.  Aggressive rams are not bred on our farm. We pride ourselves in the lambs our rams produce; heavy fleece, patterns and colors, conformation, and size.

Our rams are generally a peaceful bunch, often allowed to graze free around the farm under minimal supervision. It is quite a sight to see the rams walking single file across the far pastures, browsing and grazing. And to get them back in their pen? Its as easy as saying “Hey boys...time to go” and walking behind them, moving the stragglers along...well unless they run across an especially tasty patch of grazing!!! Then it might take a little more urging  ;)

Choosing the correct ewes to place in our breeding pens is a year-long project as we match the characteristics of each pairing  to produce the highest quality lambs possible.

Louis

CLRC Reg. No. RTK M5H 14N

Horned Spotted Moorit Solid Twin

Louis is a stocky, strong-horned ram that has retained his soft fleece and deep Moorit coloring.

Louis has a gentle disposition  and is extremely agile and athletic. He passes his silky fleece on to his offspring and we are eagerly anticipating the first lambs this year that cross our Flotti line ewes with Louis.

We have used Louis and a son, William, extensively in our breeding program the last two years, producing some exceptionally fleeced and conformation offspring. Louis and his son William have produced over 65% ewe lambs in their breedings.

Rams and ewes from Louis’s line for sale can be found on the Sales Page.

William

CLRC Reg. No. TMB WILL RAM B2SH 12S

Horned Spotted  Solid Twin  (Carried Moorit)

William was born here on the farm in the 2006 lambing to Lily Girl and Louis. William combined the bulky conformation and heavy fleece of his sire with the long body of his dam. We retained his sister, who has similar characteristics in our 2007 breeding.

William was extremely gentle and the largest-fastest growing ram lamb of the 2007 season. The picture shown was taken in December 2006.

We used William for a large portion of the first breeding group of 2007. He has produced extremely beautiful lambs, the majority of which are ewes.

Unfortunately, we lost William after the spring shearing, in an apparent case of hypothermia. We are heartbroken, and take great pride in the number of exceptional offspring he produced for us.

Rams and ewes from William’s line for sale can be found on the Sales Page.

Buddy

CLRC Reg. No. TMB BUDDY RAM M5SH 17S

Horned Spotted  Grey Solid Triplet

Buddy was born here on the farm in the 2006 lambing to Oreo and Louis. This yearling ram has incredible horns, wide spaced and very thick, combined with great conformation and his mother’s full thel filled fleece.

Buddy is a sweetheart, a personality that rivals some of our most spoiled ewes. This is probably due to the special care he received after an illness.

Buddy has bonded to his pen mate Isaac and both can be found happily grazing off by themselves while the other rams roam around the farm, sauntering back to the pen around dusk to be shut in for the night without prompting .

Buddy will be used in future breeding seasons to strengthen the quality of fleece and Moorit yarns.
